Projects
Our club is involved in a variety of projects that involve fundraising, community service, and assisting children locally and worldwide.  Below are the projects in which we are currently involved:

DC Central Kitchen As a volunteer, you will work alongside the men and women in our Culinary Job Training program to prepare the 4,000 meals that DC Central Kitchen donates each day to more than one hundred community agencies. Nicole McDermott
DC101 Chili Cook-off for NKF It’s ON!!! Nationally recognized talent and extended hours have escalated the crowds at the National Kidney Foundation's DC Chili Cook-Off, and NKF needs your help to properly staff the event. Come volunteer and enjoy a day of music, fun, and yes…chili! Jeffrey Wolff
Hands on DC Hands on DC is an all-volunteer project that creates better schools and brighter futures for students in the District of Columbia. Thousands of volunteers have a great time each spring as they join together for a one-day work-a-thon that improves conditions in the public schools and raises money for college scholarships. Since 1994 more than 26,000 volunteers have created a better environment for learning in over 120 schools and have collected more than $500,000 to help local students pay for further education. Pinecrest School Movie Night This is a night out for parents - kids are at school, watch a movie, have pizza and fun! Basic volunteer needs are supervision and serving food. Nicole McDermott
Relay for Life with GMUCKI Relay For Life® is a fun-filled overnight event designed to bring together those who have been touched by cancer in our community. At the event, we celebrate survivorship and raise money to help the American Cancer Society in its mission to save lives, help those who have been touched by cancer, and empower individuals to fight back. During the event, teams of people gather at schools, fairgrounds, or parks and take turns walking or running laps. Each team tries to keep at least one team member on the track at all times. Ronald McDonald House Our events with the Ronald McDonald House includes numerous projects throughout the morning, including preparing breakfast for the families, cleaning the common rooms, shampooing the carpets, refinishing the tables, yardwork, and other projects. Jennifer Wolff
Safe Sitter SafeSitter Basic Training Course (for 11-13 year olds) Course includes babysitting as a business, babysitting ethics (such as when it's OK to cancel or refuse a babysitting job), how to care for a choking infant or child, personal safety, how to care for children (diapering, holding an infant, feeding, entertaining, etc.), injury prevention, basic first aid, preventing problem behavior, and behavior management.
