The Kiwanis Club of Tysons Corner/McLean, VA offers our SafeSitter Course throughout the year. Safe Sitter teaches adolescent babysitters how to handle crises, how to keep their charges secure, and how to nurture and guide a young child. In short, Safe Sitter babysitters help children stay safe and sound while their parents are away. In the process, these 11-to 13-year-olds emerge as more confident, responsible and compassionate teens and adults. (www.safesitter.org)    We have 356 graduates so far!

SafeSitter Basic Training Course includes babysitting as a business, babysitting ethics (such as when it's OK to cancel or refuse a babysitting job), how to care for a choking infant or child, personal safety, how to care for children (diapering, holding an infant, feeding, entertaining, etc.), injury prevention, basic first aid, preventing problem behavior, and behavior management. Student Check-in starts at 8:45am. Pre-registration is required.

Cost: $50 - which includes lunch and a Safesitter Kit (Student Manual with Completion Card, 2 Introducing SafeSitter(r) Cards, Important Numbers Post-Its Pad, Band-Aid Dispenser, Flashlight, Messenger Bag) upon completion of the course.
